Glitter Crimes is a harmony-focused duo from Raleigh, North Carolina made
up of Jenny Butterworth and Todd Nuckolls. We are neighbors who decided to
play and write music together, just because we can. Our musical style is an
eclectic mix that Jenny likes to call Postmodern Folk – inspired by
American folk music, but free of the constraints of tradition. Our lyrics
are our delight; they are the precious jewels that shimmer along the aural
waves of our foot-tapping rhythms. Our songs are sometimes funny, sometimes
heartbreaking, sometimes both.
Glitter Crimes formed in the fall of 2016. We are currently working on
writing more songs and figuring out where to go from here.
Todd is a high-level vault of arcane film and music knowledge with a
librarian day-job. He loves hot tea, argyle, his wife Elise, and his dog
Harley Quinn. Todd’s musical influences include: Jerome Kern, The Clash,
William Bell, Joni Mitchell and Rose Royce.
Jenny is a hit-or-miss dog psychic and reluctant Egyptologist. She loves
hammocks, Tofurkey, shiny things, and her dog Hugo Butterworth.
Jenny’s musical influences include: the Beatles (obviously), Simon and
Garfunkel, Indigo Girls, B-52s, America, Gilligan’s Island (the TV show,
right?), Latin-American protest music, and pretty much any American music
released before 1990.
KEVIN EARL: Kevin Earl writes and records music in his house in Raleigh, NC. Kevin is interested in exploring the creative possibilities and limitations of home recording. He currently uses simple instruments and tools one can fit in a room to make records he cares about. His newest record, What Happened(?), was released May 5, 2017
